Buffy's dream encounter with the First Slayer (as an aside, I hate the appellation "Primitive"), takes place near Antelope Valley Indian State Park. I had assumed this would be a tough location to find. It's not, but it is difficult to access. The actual location is about 1/3 mile from the road and access to it is blocked. There is a gate across the driveway and the land is all fenced off. When I was there, I couldn't find anyone to sweet talk into letting me through, so I ended up getting to it via a back way, through the Park. This involved turning off the road about 200 yards south and driving east as far as I could. As I have a tiny pick-up with zero traction in sand, this wasn't very far. So I had to hike a ways up-hill through sand, then basically trespass to get into the location. The specific shots are not at all easy to find, as the rocks all start to look alike. After more than an hour of walking around through the sand I only found a couple. So most of my shots for "Restless," "Intervention" and "Get It Done" are just general location shots. I could have found more I'm sure, but I ran out of time (also my health problems were kicking in).

While it's an easy drive to the location from the "
Spiral" location, I don't recommend heading up here unless you have plenty of time. If you can't get in through the main driveway, it's about a half-hour hike uphill just to get to the site. I was there in the winter so it wasn't all that hot, but it would probably be hot any other time so be sure to bring a lot of water and maybe something to snack on. My recommendation if you're going to do a trip to this and the Spiral location is to leave from Los Angeles early in the morning. You'd be going against rush hour so it wouldn't be all that bad. It takes a little over an hour or so to get to the Spiral location.

Location: Next to Antelope Valley Indian State Park, around 16 miles northeast of Palmdale, CA.
How to get there: From the Spiral location, head north on 145th St. At the T intersection in 2 miles, turn right (east) on Avenue O. After half a mile, turn left (north) on 170th St. After a little over 3 miles, you'll see a few buildings on the right hand side, behind which are the rocky hills the scenes were shot at. The entrance I used is to get in is E Ave L, 200 yards south of the buildings. Hike up to the outcroppings ahead.
